Bud had one in a Ruger #1. He's a serious big bore guy and good with them. After several years he parted with it in favor of a #1 in 45-90. Felt it was a more versatile round and better suited his needs. Also cited cheaper brass easier to find. His story, but he knows what he's doing. If your needs are different you might flip the other way.
I crossed paths with him when I drove to town yesterday, and coincidentally asked about his source for high pressure data. As I recall he started the quest in the forum of Shiloh Sharps, and through contacts there was led to other sources. Nothing "official," but there are guys around who've done the work. Wish I could be more specific and point you at a single source. My bud said he had difficulties with the Nitro finding suitable powders for a broad range of loads in the big case. If the case wasn't full it didn't shoot well, and forget about moderate loads. Dropping down to the 90 sorted that for him, but he's pretty quick to point out that in the early stages he was reassured to be working with the strong #1 action. Never got into any real trouble, but some folks on line are as "enthusiastic" as PO Ackley in their pressure standards.
Good to know. Just picked up a new copy of hornady 10th edition. Still a few inconsistencies. Loads are almost the same as the 7th edition. Sitting down to do the math right now....
