Hey there everyone,

I would like advice/help on getting a job on the north slope. I am originally from MN but spent 3 years in the oilfields in Utah. I am currently running frac sand in Wisconsin for the same company I worked for in Utah. Before I decided to go into the oil/gas industry, I was a carpenter for 8 years. After long discussions with my wife we decided we are interested in moving to Alaska. I am very mechanicaly inclined, professional, quick to think in tight situations, and have a very strong work ethic. I'm not interested in getting rich quick, (like some people like to tell you on all these shows you see nowadays)just providing a rewarding life for my wife and 3 children. I have tried applying to jobs online but haven't had the opportunity to be blessed with such a great job. I met a fellow in southern MN about 5 years ago that offered me a job up there but I was not in the position ( ready to have a baby) to leave unfortunately. Ever since then, that day has played back in my head 1000s of times. Anyways, any help/leads/anything would be more then appreciated. :D

I do but really can't help you out much.
The one thing I always recommend is buying Alaska business monthly.
Once a year they have an oilfield issue.
It has all the contact information for all the oilfield related companies. Then you start checking their websites for openings.
Be sure your family is ready for it.
Our divorce rate is atrocious.
Good luck.

I've never worked up there, but it seems like the people I know that do, all got in because they knew somebody. I realize that's not what you want to hear but that's what I have learned from a small sample.

I suspect your also at quite a disadvantage since your not up here already. I know in my field we really try and avoid bringing people up because 90% are gone inside of 2 years.
