I have trouble using the advanced search function. For example, if I want to find "seward halibut day harbor", everything with the word "day" or "harbor" comes up first and it's terrible at finding the closest thing. A google search is way better at that. Am I doing something wrong?

I do not believe you are doing anything wrong. I have a lot of trouble with the search engine here also. It takes me hours to find what I am looking for.

I've found (and it sounds like you have to) that an advanced search through google is definately the best way to do that.

same problem

same problem

I have the same problem with the search function. It is possible to add something like "search for post with all terms", or something similar? It would make searching for info a lot easier, and maybe reduce having the same topics posted over and over.

I'm pretty sure that our search function is built into the vBulletin software and is thus not customizable. I could be wrong, though, so I'll ask those in the know.

thanks..

You just did it. :)

Find the correct forum, click on the
newthread.gif
button in the upper left of the forum page, type your message, and hit submit. That should do it.

The site specific google search in the advanced search menu is the way to go. The only hangup is searching for old general discussion threads, but honestly those are probably best left in the past anyway!
