That's about to change!
This animal was shot illegally and the culprit should be charged and prosecuted the same as any one else who shoots an animal illegally. However, this has been way over played by the state. That animal was so far from the rest of the herd, it had no value to the ability to keep increasing the numbers. Likely there was a REASON the state didn't transplant these Bison around Quinagak so the area isn't exactly prime habitat. Remember, all the animals transplanted spent there lives in fenced enclosures. There's no historic area in their brains to keep them faithful to an area.
