I do not know how to do the cut and paste thing, hopefully someone will. On Dec.6,adfg released an announcement reviewing the 2022 uci commercial salmon season.
After giving escapement levels for the various watersheds and commercial harvests,it was reported that kenai river sockeye escapements would not be finalized until inriver harvest is available in the FALL OF 2023!!!!!. WTF!
What kind of management is this?. On a related note, the adfg commercial manager for uci was replaced by the former sportfish manager.

Is it any wonder that ucida wants the feds to force the state to manage this fishery biologically rather than politically?

They're estimating that the SEG was met, so kinda sounds like pretty darn good management to me....
Yeah. And the kasilof exceeded their beg by over 650,000. Just wondering why the inriver harvest numbers for 2022 won't be available until fall of 2023.

Hopefully in the future, better infrastructure and more river miles open to Personal Use will help to manage any 'overescapement' (not really a thing) on the Kasilof...maybe the shakeup in personnel has something to do with the inriver report on the Kenai- have you asked the Department about it?

While I disagree with your assertion that overescapement is not really a thing, I would certainly not oppose opening more river miles to personal use or extending the p/u fishery beyond its closing date in seasons of ----- overabundance?, since you say overescapement is not a thing, will not use that term.
I have not asked the department as to why the inriver report is estimated not to be available til fall of 23. Thanks for your suggestion. Hope to follow through on this, usually I rely on people more educated and in the know than I,to keep me informed. Will post if I get any info on this matter.
