It's a long story but I might be having to run an Ace pot puller off of a battery that I'm only able to charge on shore. If anyone has done this, how's it worked out? I know there's a lot of variables like depth, pot weight, battery size, etc, but have you been able to pull your pots on one charge?

Using the numbers from Ace website...
140 feet/min using 600' of line is about 4 minutes of hauling per set, unloaded, so use 5 minutes
It uses up to 35 amps when loaded up
That is 35 amps for 5 minutes, or 3 amp-hours
A group 31 battery at 12.5 volts is good for about 90 amp-hours
IF you don't want to kill the battery, it should only be 50% discharged, so 45 A-h useable capacity
That means you can haul at max draw maybe 8-9 times before you must charge your battery. Real world conditions mean that this would actually be less than expected, so I would say 5-7 times hauling would be about all you should do. But, it should be enough.

How big is your battery? I assume this puller is designed to run on 12V.
Also what's the chemistry of the battery? If it's lead acid, then as mentioned above you shouldn't drain it below 50%. The newer lithium varieties however can be drained much lower though.

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't have the battery yet, might use an extra one I carry in a different boat or buy a dedicated battery for it. It's to be used on an inflatable that is at a remote cabin. The outboard doesn't have a charging system.

Since you aren't committed to any particular battery yet, you may want to take a look at a LiFe (Lithium Iron) battery. As I mentioned above, you can get a lot more use out of a given size battery and they're way lighter and more portable than the lead acid batteries.
Don't forget you need a LiFePo4 battery charger. The charger you have may not work.
One other thing LiFePo4 battery are ship between 30% / 50% charged they must be charged before using them.

Keep in mind that draw down on a battery is only about 50% (flooded), unless you plan to kill the battery, which will severely shorten its life, Realistically speaking a group 31 (~100AH) will only yield about 50 useable amps. that will give you a theoretical 1.4 hours, but I would expect 30 to 45 minutes more likely.
These pullers are power intensive, you would need a pretty big bank of batteries to pull more than once. Sometimes the pots get hung up, sometimes there is a current, if so it takes longer and at a higher load.
