5.56X45MM (XM855LC1 AC1) 62gr. FMJ Ball ??????

What is your experience with this ammo.....???? Especially it's ability to group relative to the other Bulk FMJ ammo for the 5.56X45MM......???

Relative to the 55 gr. FMJ the 62 gr. green tip ammo is not doing well for me.

The only ammo I shoot through my AR's. Never had a problem grouping it.

Is there any other problems it giving you aside from grouping? What AR are you shooting it through?

I have a custom built Wilson Tactical AR that was tuned for that round. I can get it to shoot under a half inch at 100 yards with that ammo if i do my part.

What type of group are you requiring first off? The 62 gr was an improvement over the older 55gr but keep in mind its still a bulk rd ammo. As for my experience with the round I log roughly 30k rd to 50k rd down range a year while giving instruction. There is always variables to keep in mind as I am sure you are aware so again to know what your expectation are you be helpful.

My question too, if you shooting a 1-12 barrel that may be your issue. My 1-8 loves 62 grain bullets in general.

OK...... I isolated the problem today. And in retrospect I wish I would have reversed the steps I choose in isolating the problem.

What happened is I was building a "Winter" AR-15 with a 18" stainless steel 1:8 barrel, and have been working on it (Off and On) most of the summer. I used some things that were outside my normal stuff, I used a cheap $39.99 flash suppressor that looks like my regular NOVESKE KX-3 (Lately I have switched to their KX-5 on the 6.8SPC's).

Also I had a new in the box Leupold 4.5-12X40MM that I bought long ago. As luck would have it, after all of the white painting and assembling, I just opened a fresh can of XM855.

I was getting 3.5 MOA for 5 shots (Never smaller, and sometimes 4.5" MOA). I at first figured the scope or scope mount to be the problem, it was not the problem, but it required changing mounts 3 times to rule that out. Next I fugured maybe the cheap muzzle devise, Because through-out this problem solving it was clear that the upper was way over gassed, but I was willing to live with the over gassed because it was to be a "Winter" only firearm (It being all white (including the scope).

This left me largely questioning this can of XM855LC. More testing/different optics/removed the cheap muzzle devise/checked the ammo in a Custom built by NOVESKE 20" heavy barrel rifle, ammo shot as good as I usually can (7/8 to 1 1/4 for five shots, I am NOT a marksman).

I now figure the new barrel is POOP. And yes, I should have checked the ammo in a "Known" rifle sooner in the process.

I just received a new barrel this evening and upon inspection found a lip on he crown all around the diameter of the bore. I was really disappointed.
