Just seeing if anyone out there has a proven load for one. I have 400gr nosler part and 400gr barnes tsx bullets. Powder ranging from rl-15, h-4350,h-4831, 4064 and both 4895. Rifle is a cz 550. Thanks

Can't really help you but I have a ZKK 602 .375 I have been thinking of converting to .416. Noticed the .416 Rigby is loaded to far Less pressure than the .416 WBY which is odd, the WBY is just the Rigby case with a belt.
Was your cz factory chambered in .416 or did you rechamber it? My 602 looks like a easy conversion-the mag takes a .378 WBY with ease.

Hello yes it is a factory chambered cz. Yes on the pressure it is alot lower operates around 47,000. They say guys load it up to 460 pressures but it really starts hurting and puts alot of stress on the brass. I picked this up for a steal new in the box it has the hogback stock on it.
The secret to loading the big Rigby is using slow powder. Slow as H4831, RL-22,IMR 7828 or MRP. I prefer RL-22 with 400 grain bullet. Start at 100.0 grains (about 2400 fps +) and go up from there. The bolt guns shoot better when the loads are at about 2500 fps, this is about 104.0 grains of RL-22. The slower powders allow more complete filling of the case at about 50k psi.
The Rigby was originally pressure spec'd at about 43,000 psi, for its use in doubles. The strong modern CZ will take a significant increase in pressure. The case should however not be over loaded, it isn't the strongest case. Loads with the 400 grain bullet seem to work best when at about 2500 fps.
With the 400 grain Nosler.
RL-22 104.0 grains.
H4831 102.0 grains.
IMR 7828 102.0 grains.
4895 or 4064 are too fast burn rate for this huge case.
RL-15 is also too fast for this big case and may cause hang fires with the low volume load that will be max pressure.
Enjoy the old cartridge.

Thanks Murphy I have h-4831 and 7828 I don't have rl-22 I have never gotten good accuarcy with it with other calibers. So I gave up on it. I need to get a limbsaver recoil pad and junk the factory one.

got all the component to load this bad boy I think I will get some Speer 350gr bullets I really don't want to be chucking 400gr noslers down range at 35 bucks for a box of 25 that will hurt a little.
You'll really like those Speer 350 hot core bullets. I use a lot of those in my 416 for practice and what I call shooter conditioning. They are rather inexpensive and a little easier on the shooter but still give us a little thump to condition the shooter. They are the best training bullet available for the 416 and a good hunting bullet also. The have the same profile of the more expensive and stronger built Swift A-frame of the same weight. I shoot them at just over 2500 fps and they are effective at that velocity. I have recently found a fine FN Mauser custom gun in 416 Taylor, actually made on a 1961 Browning Safari 338 WM used-to-be. A beautiful rust blued rifle in the original stock, refinished with a matt lacquer. Lovely!! I do love those 416's. Now I just need $1600 bucks!!
