Has anybody tried handloading this round? I've developed a good 225gr Nosler Partition Load if anybody is interested.

My local has 1 rifle (looks nice) but no rounds for the last 6 months and no idea when he will. No dies either. Sure looks like it would be a winner if you could use it though. Post your results, I am sure some would be interested.

Cheers

I heard that the factory rounds for the RCM are using powder that is only safe when compressed making it hard for the reloader to match the factory ammo. How does your load compare to the factory ammo's velocities?

That would not be reliable information. I believe we can duplicate advertised factory ballistics when using the same length barrel. I have been using a wildcat that holds one grain less water than the 338 RCM case and I can equal the advertised ballistics, easily.

I have this rifle one of my favorite, I am interested in what powder at what grains you are using to match the factory ballistics.

I am ordering the dies for this round. What powder would get me close to the factory specs. I shoot the 200gr round. I can't afford to shoot $50.00 for twenty practice rounds. Looking to get a new reloader though, any suggestions on the differences between RCBS, LEE and DILLION. I've been using a friends. Main calibers I'll be making .243, .30-06, .338RCM, 40S+W.
Any and all equipment user comments are greatly welcomed and appreciated.

Buildak,
This is an old thread. If Murphy sees it I know he would love to answer. His real name is Treethudyate T. Fordie Kal Murphy. I'm going to make a good guess for you though. Murphy once said his favorite powder for the 338-06 (darn close to the 338 RCM in capacity) was Reloader 19. I'm willing to bet a beer thats what he used with his version of the RCM. Its a good place to start.

I use RL 19 in my 330 Dakota with excellent results. If memory serves me correctly, Murphy has also developed a 338 WSM and perhaps that is the round he is referring to - just a thought. Go slow and good luck.
