Where are you located?
Fairbanks area is pretty solid still.
If you're in the Anch/Valley area, you might wanna take a look at the Knik bridge out by the flats or down at the 20mile mudbanks.
Depending on the tides and snow depth, you might find some water to access.
Everywhere else though, you're gonna have too wait like the rest of us..

Soon, I think your best bet will be the Knik when it thaws out a little more. I have the same boat in a XL platform. You will love it. Show some pictures of your new ride.

Do you have any recovery gear? I carry a capstan winch, Pull Pall and 600' of rope just incase you stick it on a sand/gravel bar. Its always nice to go out with people just incase.

not sure how to post pictures on here yet, but i do not have any recovery gear yet, trying to find some cheaper stuff, right now id probably use rope and a tarp and throw it into the main chanel current, I upgraded from a 79 22ft valco that had a 753 hamilton with the 350 olds. so itll be a huge change, me and the old man went halfs on the boat, got the heater, gps and sound system installed on it last week, did it all myself. nothing quite like punching holes in a brand new boat lol

https://www.ebay.com/i/152920588852?chn=ps&dispItem=1 I went with this heater, mainly because there is no difference between this and the webast/airtronic heaters, its just a nock off with the same internals, i have it running off kerosene with a 3 gallon tank, little to no odor from exhaust, used a removable plastic tank with the quick disconnects so i can fill it outside of the boat. once i figure out how to post pictures ill post them

What heater did you go with?

I also just bought a new XL but with a 150hp outboard. I’d be interested in a group knik run as soon as it opens up. I’m anxiously waiting to take it out

Sorry bud, I am not going to sale my recovery gear. I am still going to play on the rivers with my boat until it is sold. Plus I can use my capstan winch moose hunting or for whatever else I may need it for. If it is not in the boat, it is in my ranger.
Check out simpson winch company in Portland Oregon. I think I am into my gear for $1650.00 Winch, pulleys, rope, ropealong and pull pall.

waterdog, I've been looking at those things for years on fleabay but was worried about quality. The adds are mostly in Chinglish, which gives me pause. You gotta love sentences like this: -"The use of advanced automatic control technology, with a reliable abnormal operating conditions."

Did they really ship it for only $9.99? What's the noise factor?

yeah i was a little hesitant at first but i did alot of research on them and looked at the specs, the only thing i dont like is the controller, but i am going to use a webasto one i have laying around the shop once i get some time to re-wire it to work, but they are the same exact thing as the name brand ones, same fuel pump, same outputs for the most part. the shipping was cheap, i cant remember what it was, but the real test is using it this spring and fall during hunting season
