Same guidelines as usual:

Photos and short hunt descriptions only. - Please, if you want to congratulate a hunter or ask questions, do so in a separate thread or via the PM system.

Alaskan hunts only - Please feel free to share your photos from other states/countries in the Out and About forum.

2013 hunts only

This is one of my favorite features of the site, as I love seeing the collection build throughout the year and the transition from one set of species to another. Our late winter moose, caribou, bison and musk ox...leading to the spring bear...and then into sheep and caribou...and back to moose, goat, bears, and more. Let's get this new collection started!

denali bou.jpg It was 27 below when we unloaded the sleds in Cantwell. But lots of layers, and a little luck paid off.

Had a few really good days afield looking for caribou this year on the Nushagak Peninsula. Saw a few caribou, but spared this one from a bug infested summer.....

It's not AK, but I'll have to make do!

It's not AK, but I'll have to make do!

So now I am in sunny ND. Hmmmmm not sure what the good point of this state is! hahahaha but make do with what you got.

My friend John and I put in for turkey tags and we both drew them!

We drove around and talked to landowners and were turned down more often than not as a lot of these owners like the turkeys as pets..
We found a couple places to hunt and I was lucky to call my tom in off the roost! Bamn. Turkey down. Later that afternoon I called in a lone jake for John and it was a double on opening day!!!!

I forgot how fun turkey hunting can be! I was so into it I asked him to put in for SD and I did as well.

I ended up going alone but drove down to the black hills and hunted for 3 day. WOW what a cool trip that was. At one point I hiked up a power line ridge at at 4500 feet I looked south and BAMN!!!!! there was mount Rushmore. That was very cool!

I got on this Merriam and that was that. My second turkey of the season.

While I wished I was prepping for spring bear season I can manage that from ND so turkeys it is

couple more bears

couple more bears

Took my kids out this past weekend after returning from brown bear hunting, Managed to find a couple nice bears for my daughters to shoot. Son and I made a good stalk on another but a flock of geese spooked when we were 80 yards away or so and when they took off, the bear got shy didnt like what he heard and wandered away not offering a clear broadside shot.. So My son and I will be out this weekend to try and fill our tag..
