Does anyone else own a 07' 660? If so have you made any mods or any problems? I only have 12 hours on mine and so far it's by far the strongest and smoothest atv I've rode.

Welcome to the forums motorboatn. Congrats on the 07 Griz. I have an 02 Griz with a few mods. Looks like the 07 Griz is going to be another trend setter in the atv world. How do you like that power steering? I hear you can actually stear now while in diff lock. What are you going to do for tires? First thing I did was get some 27" BiTri Claws and put in a clutch kit. Lots of good tires on the market. My buddy Silvertipgriz over at www.atvfrontier.com just got some 28" Highlifter Outlaws MSTs for his 02 griz this year. His is modded out big time. 686 big bore, etc. He's run the mst's in a lot different types of terrain and loves em.

Enjoy that griz! I think I can see permagrin from here!

EDIT: I just noticed you have a 660 instead of a 700. does it have the powersteering too?

07- 660

07- 660

For those of that do not know , Yamaha still makes the good ol 660, It is just like the 06 Grizzly. They have the new 07-700 Grizzly with all the upgrades (power steering, Fuel injection, new power plant ect). I think the 660 costs about one thousand less.

660 Grizz!!!!!!!!

660 Grizz!!!!!!!!

Hi, been riding one since they came out, was it '02 or '03, can't remember, spose I could go look at my quad, but thats alright. Been riding for years, grew up on the 185s three wheeler, went through some 200x's and 250r's, had a 300 fourtrax, went to a 450 fourman. All great machines, all my buddies were still "Riding Red" when I ordered the Grizz, they were all hoping to be the first to tow me home after the belt got wet or the Yamaha quit. Several years and fast approaching 5000 miles and they're still waiting. In fact, at least two of them have gotten 660's. Been running 27" Mud Lites on ITP billets since about mile 50, because of a nail and a sidewall slice. Also have the Moose full skid plate and A-arm guards, heated grips and thumb warmer, Moose handlebar mitts and the Warn package. I picked up one of the 12 volt air compressors a couple years ago, I've helped a couple other people with it but haven't needed it yet, get the good brown tire plugs at Napa and buy the 8 or 10 OZ. tire glue in the can. Lots of tools fit into one of the small dry bags. All this extra stuff will fit under the seat. I'd rather spend the time and loan the the tools than tow somebody home because they don't have any. I went in and reworked the clutch pack, changed the belt at 4500 miles ( it was still within factory specs) and cleaned up the belt sheaves. No problems with the wheel bearings or CV axels, which is suprising considering the oversize tires. I wouldn't say I've abused my machine, but it doesn't live in the garage to look good. It's spent all day doing a causual 20 mph down the logging road and its spent quit a bit of time doing 45 to 65 mph hauling A$$ just like we were practicing for the Baja!!! I live in SE so every ride involves a boat ride first, there's no riding in town. If you load up into a skiff or a bigger boat, you can get out to the old logging road systems, then "It's go time!!" Some of the systems only see a couple quads or people a year. Nothing better than loading up the boat with about 10 quads and some buds and taking off for a week, the only thing that gets in the way is work or maybe the USFS (but thats a different rant for a different Thread!!!) About the only other things I can recommend about the 660 is: wash it when you get home, change your oil and filter more often then Yamaha says, take care of your fuel, and Ride, Ride, Ride!!!!!! See ya' out there.

Grizzled....

Grizzled....

Alright. Another grizzled rider. Sounds like you have an 02 like me. They had the best axles and cv's. In 03 they put smaller ones in and started to have issues. I have been running my 27" Claws since after break in. Ran a 2 inch HL Lift kit for awhile but took it off and went with an dirrent one. Not as much lift, moved the upper shock mounts out, installed some HL Springs, took off the rear anti-sway/anti-articulation bar (after break in) and the suspension now is just right .
