Never tried the 4 strokes, but I am not sure that there would be much advantage. My auger uses so little fuel already, I have had it for 3 years and only used about 1 gallon of fuel.

I'm not looking at them so much for fuel savings it's more about exhaust. I cut a lot of holes inside and outside of my shack and the blue smoke haze left inside drives me crazy. It gives me a headache and the front of my ice fishing parka has oil stains all over it.
That being said, I'm okay with my 2 stroke but if the 4 stroke was better I would make the switch. So far no one has said anything that would make me fork over the dough for a new 4 stroke.
I've been thinking about getting a new auger and a friend of mine says that the 4 strokes don't have the power that the 2 strokes do.
Anybody have a side by side comparison between the two?
