Default Today & Tomorrow are the days

Commercial fishery update on the Kenai/Kasilof Subdistricts as of yesterday:

2007 Upper Cook Inlet Salmon Fishery News Release #10
UCI Commercial Fishery Announcement No. 10 - Upper Subdistrict Set Gillnet Extension and Drift Corridor Extension
Districts Affected: Kasilof Section Set, Kenai Section Drift

This Upper Cook Inlet Commercial Fishing Announcement extends set gillnetting in the Kenai, Kasilof and East Forelands Sections of the Upper Subdistrict from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2007.

Drift gillnetting will be open in the Kenai and Kasilof Sections from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2007.

The offshore test fish vessel has encountered significant numbers of sockeye salmon entering the Central District for the past few days. The drift gillnet fleet is reporting very good catches today (July 16) with fish spread throughout Cook Inlet. These fish should soon be entering the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers.
The Kenai River late-run sockeye salmon management plan allows for up to 51 additional hours of commercial fishing in the Upper Subidstrict set gillnet fishery beyond the the two regular 12-hour periods fished on Mondays and Thursdays. This announcement uses the first three of those 51 hours.

It does seem like they should hit today or tomorrow and in significant numbers. Yesterdays OTF was back down to 50 and no commercial openings yet today. Each tide brings new hope!!
