In Juneau they get the annual invasion of Borg cubes... er, I mean cruise ships. ;) Often three huge ones full of drones in one day. Do Wrangell and Pete get a milder invasion?
To clarify: when I say "get involved in the local community," I mean do they welcome volunteers at the school, the fire department, search-and-rescue, etc? I've been told by someone in Gustavus that the fire department always wants volunteers. I'm not sure what MacGyver meant about knowing...

In Alaska we have a few small regional airlines (e.g. Alaska Seaplanes, Ravn) but I'm not aware of any that go to/from southeast or southcentral... or for that matter, to/from southeast and Washington.
Assuming that for some reason (legal, practical, philosophical, whatever) one wants to avoid...
