I was just in Sportsman's this weekend looking to pick up powder, etc and they didn't seem to have any - plenty of bullets and other items, but no powder. Any ideas on where to source in town? Thanks!
Gang,
I used to order all my fly rod building materials from Angler's Workshop out of WA, but it looks like the got sold/consumed by a big corporate outfit and are now based in Illinois somewhere and their selection/service/etc is nothing what it used to be.
Any in-state or PNW outfits folks...

Looking to make a trip down on the 15th for halibut and maybe rockfish... Tide looks to be -3.8 at 0900... Thoughts on whether we'll do alright, or will the tides booger us up too much?
I know what the specs and mfg'r recommendations are for this, but wondering what experiences folks have had by maybe using the larger impeller configuration in their rig - thoughts?
Anyone else dealt with this? Would like to avoid buying a new bowl if possible - wondering if any solutions out there to use some sort of filler, build it back up, etc.
Have been using a small/soft backpack, but have an old school reed basket - just not sure how well it would hold up in the deep cold in the interior.
Thoughts? Don't want to bugger it up.
Thoughts on maximum range of shot to be taken when targeting moose with regards to retaining enough energy for proper arrow penetration to vitals? I had an opportunity for a clean shot at 55-60 yards this weekend and let it go based on this concern.
Just picked up a 1895XLR 45-70 and am planning to add a big loop. A buddy has a WWG made big loop on his, but the finish is off - more of a matte finish, rather than matching the receiver. Would like the upgrade to match as much as possible, but if there's evidence the fit and function of the...
Recently had some examples of both (A) excellent, and (B) absolutely horrific (seriously), customer service when in a few gun shops in Anchorage.
Was looking to make a retail purchase of a new rifle, considering a few minor upgrades, and left (B) in utter disgust. Unfortunate for everyone...

Blown bulbs, all the alarm lights on, LCD speedometer blank, hotgrips HOT! Suspect bad voltage regulator - yep it's cracked in half, scorched on the inside when I pry it apart. Replace it. Test drive down road - all is fine for 1 mile them BOOM same...
What experience have folks had with choosing powder (black vs pyro vs pyro pellets) in temps down to -40, and how best to handle each of them when having to deal with big temp swings and possible humidity changes? I store my powder in the garage (about 50F today) but heading out to shoot this...

I'm assuming that once the sap starts to flow in the coming weeks/months that it would be the best time to select and harvest willow... Looking to collect some and make walking sticks, show the kids how to safely peel/whittle, etc...
Any tips/tricks out there?

Nice shot of the boss on our XL with a big king - won the Evinrude corporate photo of the week contest eariler this summer. Dipping from this boat is ridiculous - tons of space, very stable, etc.
I have a 16' deep well, 1 1/4" pipe, topped with a classic pitcher pump. Installed a check valve last summer to help maintain prime when out for a long weekend trip. Pumped water no problem 3 weeks ago, but this last weekend it appeared to have frozen up, likely from standing water in the pipe...
Anyone out there have tried and true designs for a sauna made out of well seasoned white spruce? I have 10 - 14' logs, 6-10" diameter that have been stacked up off the ground for 5 years, waiting for this summer to have the time to get around to this project.
Wondering on specifics like...
