  • Hey Skinny, I'm heading to Seward tomorrow. I don't suppose you are. I'm not set up very well for anchoring. Could a guy fish six mile effectively by drifting? I'm taking some friends from Idaho and wish I had a place that had more potential than chickens.

Depends on the wind and how fast you end up drifting, however like fishing in Cook Inlet you could use 4# lead, most times 16oz. will be plenty. More than likely you will drift East to West so go far enough beyond the spot to give you enough time to fish before it gets too deep, bounce the bottom, do not drag, this will help avoid snags and tangles. I prefer to anchor as it is less work on me, but either way will work. Good luck and let me know how you do.
