  • Spring Kodiak King Specials

There's lots of places to go to catch kings in Alaska, so why Kodiak.....

1.) It's one of the few places left to put 30+lb kings in the boat daily, or at least have an honest shot at it. But you have to get here at the right time, and that time is now. In 28 trips last, let's call it "Big Boy" season, 22 of those resulted in at least 1 30+lb king, one trip resulted in 7 fish boated with a final live weight of 226lbs, 32lb average. In Spring of 2014 a dozen fish over 50 including a 64 and 68.

2.) It takes less travel time to get to Kodiak from Anchorage than most other places where you go ocean bound. Yes the trip may cost a little more for travel, but that's why we all have Alaskan Airlines cards right, get those miles so we can go play somewhere. And that cocktail on your flight home is sweet after boating big kings, can't do that while driving. I theory, a guy can fly to Kodiak and be fishing a couple hours before he would get to other ports.

3.) Most days in Kodiak we are a short run from the dock for Kings (and every other species), not saying that we don't have to run long ways on certain days, but normally, 10-15 minutes from the dock.
