  • Looking to take an NRA Range Safety Officer class.

In order to help out more at my local range I need to get my RSO certification. The next class my range will most likely offer will be well into summer and I'd like to get it done before then. If your local range or club, anywhere in Alaska, is having a class before May could you let me know. I will travel anywhere in the state even to Kodiak or South East to take the class.

Well, that's another idea. If you are interested in taking a class, I might be able to get one up here sooner at the Upper Susitna Shooters if I can find enough interested participants.

Hi folks--There is a certified Range Safety Officer class at Birchwood Shooting Range in Chugiak tomorrow (Monday Feb. 28). I was originally scheduled to take the class, and then had to cancel out, so there is undoubtedly room for one more, anyway. I don't have the schedule, but I would guess that it starts around 9-10 a.m.. If this short notice still hit an available day for you, I believe the cost is about $130, and the phone number out there is 907-688-2809. There may be someone there tonight until 8 or so, but it sure was cold out there today, so I don't know if there is anyone shooting tonight.
          Best Regards,
          Jim

Dang...I checked the computer too late today. Thanks for the tip. I'll check with them and see if they have any upcoming classes.

FWIW, unless it changed in the last few years, you can take the RSO class at home by mail if you are an already certified NRA instructor.

That is still in effect, but I'm not an NRA instructor (yet). I'm just a state bowhunter and hunter ed instructor.
