This stuff never ends: another paranoid irrational anti-gun bill introduced in Congress. This one sounds really bad...

HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009

This is Obama gun control by secrecy.

Very important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009.
Even gun shop owners do not about this because it is flying under the radar.
To find out about this - go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.

Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:

    It is registered
    You are fingerprinted
You supply a current Driver's Licens
You supply your Social Security #
You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing
Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25

Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.
There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18.

The Government would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison
"I love my country...it's the government I'm scared of"

I wouldn't worry about that. From all I've heard, the bill has no support even among Dems and will die in committee. The Dems KNOW that if they pass this, they will lose their majority in 2010. It would affect maybe 40-60 million households.

I'm more concerned by persistent rumors that the Obamastration has exascerbated the ammo shortage by putting pressure on the government ammo suppliers (the big ones) to cut back on civilian production. Has anyone heard this?

My father, who heard them from someone he thinks would know.

I know that's absolutely worthless fourth hand info, which is why I called it a rumor, but was wondering if anyone else has any info.

I'm kind of surprised ammo supplies have been so low for so many months now. It would see that, if the mfrs did not reduce their production, the initial post-election panic would have subsided when everyone bought enough ammo to satisfy their concerns.

I have not heard any rumors, but have been thinking just what you say for a couple months now. It is very odd how slowly supplies are taking to bounce back, it makes me wonder why else a huge numbers of buyers with cash in hand would not be more catered to in this economy.

I got a phone call from the NRA about this bill. It is currently in committee. If introduced to the floor it could pass with the majority Dems. Both my senators and representative are conservative Republicans, but others may want to contact all there leaders about it to complain.

The Dems would not get elected again to national office for decades if they pass it, and they know that. Sure, many of them want to pass it, but they won't commit political suicide. I think it's good that the NRA is letting people know that this Bill is out there, but I think there no realistic chance it passes. If it does, there's the upside that it will be repealed in 18 months and the GOP will have about a dominant majority in both houses for a while.

                    Just thinking about it

The bill.... even if it doesn't see light of day shows they view us in the same light aa sex offenders.... considering how many firearms are in the country... these yo-yos would find out as quickley as Zumbo did on how many of his friends owned "black" rifles....

It is just that they actually think about these things that is enough to be very alert.

I agree. It's just interesting to see that the Dems, who would love to ban privately-owned guns, don't have the spine to try right now, except in some backdoor ways. I recall the MSG debate between Gore and Bradley in NY in 2000 when they were both arguing in a primary debate about who could be the better president at banning guns. It went on and on. I was terrified. But Gore lost his home state of Tennessee in Nov. and, as close as that election was, he probably lost the whole thing on the gun issue alone. I think the sober Dems (seems like an oxymoron I know) have decided to wreck the country in other ways first. For example, I don't know how many of you noticed when AG Holder said about 6 or 8 weeks ago or so that the administration was going to attempt to reinstitute the AWB, Pelosi came out the next day and said "No. We are just going to enforce the laws that currently exist" or very similar language. Mind you, no one in the world would rather ban all privately-owned firearms in the U.S. than Pelosi. But she's just barely smart enough to realize that, unlike Holder, she will lose her power in 18 months if they try.

Not to defend them but it is not just the Dems pushing anti gun stuff. Its true that most Republicans support the second ammendment but not all. John McCain the most recent R presidential canidate did not have the best second ammendment history. He was a far better pick than Obama but he still was no angel. Bush 1 signed some pretty anti second ammendment legislation into law as well. We need to be on all our reps reguardless if there is an R or D behind their name. I write mine on everything even if I know they wouldn't vote on what I am ranting about. To me it is all a part of keeping all of the governemnt in check and on the peoples side. Ruffle their feathers every once in a while just to remind them of the fact that they work for us, even if you think you know how they would vote.

Coming from Arizona I tell you I was sick when I had to pick between McCain and Obama! I am not sure if McCain would have been better or not, likely just as bad on different stuff. He lost the last bit of respect I had for him when he started the tobacco company lawsuits paving the way hold gun makers responsible for how people to use guns. Dumb as dumb gets!:rolleyes::rolleyes:
