My Chinese AK-47 project is finished (pics)

I bought a Chinese Norinco MAK 90 last year with the intention of de-banning it and reinstalling the evil features that the Clintonites deamed unsporting.

For those of you unfamiliar with the law, what I'm refering to is keeping the proper amount of US made parts in the gun to keep it 922 r ( http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/h...2----000-.html ) compliant yet have things like bayonet lugs and pistol grips...

and here's what I ended up with. Before I installed the gasblock and front sight with the bayo lug...










It took me over a week and a half to finish the wood, but it came out really nice.

I shot it today for the first time and it was shooting low right at 100 yards using Romanian mil-surp ammo. It was shooting pretty colse to point of aim, point of impact with Federal American Eagle. But we all agreed that if we were shooting at a human that he would be dead, dead, dead...

All in all it was a very fun project. I've always wanted a really nice AK but never wanted to pay the price for a Polytech.

I have Chinese Ak's in .223. They are rather accurate, given good ammo and their not so great sights.
I like the 1.5mm recivers thickness on the chinese rather than the 1.0mm thick recivers on the Soviet block modles

Now for a sling, rod and the ever evil bayonet lug.:rolleyes:

Thanks guys, I was going for a "Russian Red" look... I think it came out pretty good. Right now I have 8 sets of Romanian wood that I'm refinishing in different colors and plan on selling them when I get done.
