  • 22lr at 3 bears

I just walked out of 3 bears on Palmer Wasilla Highway. They had a bunch of Remington match grade, 50 roundsper box.

    Oh yeah, they're $20 a box.

ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN". (But if you live it wide'ass open, balls'to the wall, the pedal floored, full throttle, it is a delightful place, to finally just sit-back and savor those memories while sipping Tequila).

No thanks. Match 22LR requires frequent cleaning as barrels get leaded up from the lead bullets. So unless you are willing to clean the barrel and plan on shooting tiny groups the extra cost isn't worth it. Plus being lead they don't work well with a lot of semiautos. I would rather switch to shooting my 17 hmr @ $13-$15 a box than shoot 20$ a box 22 LR.

When I saw the thread topic, I thought someone had shot three bears with a 22LR, which would be cool I guess.

You can donate your unwanted 22LR Match ammo to me! I haven't cleaned my bore in 15 years, and it still shoots tiny groups.

IMHO, somebody gave you a Bum Steer.

I've never heard tell, of LEADING in a 22 LR. With any kinda bullet.

I use 22 LR cartridges that are lead WITHOUT plating, and they work well in semi auto rifles and pistols.

I understand they do have Special 22 LR cartridges, for the AR type Autos. ???

                        That would be $39.99

                        They must be ON SALE.

Smitty, I put scopes on three different AR 22s a while back. They were to be given in a drawing to the top donors at the annual Whitetails Unlimited Banquet that was held in my old stomping grounds in northern Ioway. I zeroed in a S&W, a Colt an a Mossberg all with the same Konus 3x9 scope. I know that each and every 22 rifle has it's own favorite ammo. I was given only a couple of boxes of the specialized 22 AR ammo that you afore mentioned so didn't get to play around with different ammo. All that I can attest to based on what I learned is that a feller would starve to death if he lived in a squirrel timber and was armed only with any of those machine gun 22s. I wouldn't trade my single shot 514 Remington for any black 22. But then I'm kinda old and very set in my ways as right or wrong as they may be!

Yeah, we're a bunch of hillbillies that shop at a store named after a nursery rhyme. I've heard of bears being taken with 22lr, not sure I'd do it by choice.
