  • Thoughts on a Springfield 1911

What are you guys thoughts on this pistol? I have a line on one for $325. I haven't asked the guy so I don't know how many rounds have been fired through it yet though I don't think he has fired it all that much. Is that a decent price?

I have had mine for over 6 years and I love it. I had the stock firing pin break this year but that was after thousands of rounds. $325 doesn't sound like a bad price, depending on it's condition. I paid about $550 for mine new.

You don't want that junk. Whats the guys number, I will buy it just to get it off the streets.

J/k. But if you dont end up buying it, I would like to. I have a Springfield LW Operator that I really like. What model is the one your looking at?

        good price.....

I have been shooting one for a long time. It sounds like a good enough deal. If it is one of the "enhanced models" it is a very good deal. If it is a standard 1911 AI Govt. Mod. and you want to start adding after market sights, beaver tails, etc., the dollars quickly add up.

              WOW

OK guys. Thanks for the input. This will be my first 1911 however I do have other pistols and revolvers. Not sure about the model. It currently belongs to a guy I work with and he isn't the fancy high dollar gun owner type. I need to call him and ask him. Thanks for all your input.

I own a ten year old Colt M1991 stainless, and new SA GI. Personally I think the Colt is built to a slightly higher standard. But the Colt cost me ~$550 in '99, and the SA ~$500 in '08. My next 1911 will be a Colt Series 70. Well that's my preference. BTW the GI was very loose to start. Sent it back and they tightened it up.

Now just gotta get me a Ruger Super Blackhawk 4 5/8" for the field!

You got a good deal at $325!
What I want is a Kember 1911 some day. They are very slick 1911's!

Ok. It's a Springfield 1911-A1. Hogue grips. He said he only shot it about four times, so I'm guessing about 100- 200 rounds through it. I'll post some pics soon.

You wasted your money on that . . . may as well give it to me now!

Good looking gun, from the right side anyway. Well worth the $325. Have you shot it yet, and do we get to see the left side?

                          Mil-spec

Looks like a mil-spec to me, but still a great deal at 325. It is a great gun, just doesn't have all the extra bells and whistles that some of the higher end models have.

Yeah, i'm not much of a bells and whistles kinda guy. I'll probably use it mostly while ATVing. ADfields, I'll get a left side shot just for you.
