I just use a hard plastic case. Tape it shut and insure it. Never had any problems with theft and any one with half a brain could see the box most likely contained a firearm.

It won't be going through a FFL person on this end. I can just mail it myself.

What are my options for obtaining a box to ship it in?

The rifle is 42 inches long.

I just need the one box, and I'm willing to pay what it's worth.

I'm open to ANY ideas or suggestions, and will appreciate either.

No but you can mail it to my address in Missouri.

Buy a cheap plastic case and pad it well inside then stop by your favorite gun shop and get one of their empty brown rifle boxes and modifiy if necessary to get the case in the plain brown box. The key here is lots of tape. I ship guns to this address all the time so I know it is a good one.

I'll send you my address in a PM.

When I moved to AK, I shipped all my long arms to myself thru the USPS. I packaged them into their hard travel cases, locked them all; then wrapped those in cardboard, with plenty of tape. It was well worth the effort.

They were properly declared and as long as I was shipping them to myself, there were no legal issues; my postmaster checked on it too.

This was in 2006, so maybe they closed that possibility, but for ease of shipping, it's one way to go.
