Hello all, I'm in the process of "restoring" my grandpa's 99 (it's mine now). I'm getting some wood cut and the butt stock is from an original pattern with the "crescent" type of butt, you know the one that looks like an upside down "L" with a bent "leg." Anybody out here know where I can get an original, (crescent plate) or know of one that will work with minimal "fitting?" thanks.

I would try Brownells http://www.brownells.com/ and Numrich http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ and see what they have. Failing that http://www.turnbullrestoration.com/ Doug Turnbull might be able to help, and of course you could get lucky on one of the auction sites http://www.gunbroker.com/“You’ve gotten soft. You’re like one of those police dogs who’s released in to the wild and gets eaten by a deer or something.” Bill McNeal of News Radio

If books are more your line, this one is one of the best going. Muzzleloading stuff again, but great info on stock work."Lay in the weeds and wait, and when you get your chance to say something, say something good."

Look on Ebay, there's one on there right now (8hrs. left). Be prepared, it's bid at $102.00
now and is sure to rise. It even has the mounting screws (it should at that price). Go to Sporting Goods/then click "Hunting", Then click "Gun Parts", Then click "Rifle", then click "Savage", you're there.
Hope this helps.
