  • Federal Encroachment = FED UP Party, Wednesday April 27

I picked up a flier today, and thought i would share it.

Pioneer park in Fairbanks WEDNESDAY April 27th 4 pm -8 pm

Learn what Alaska is doing about the federal encroachment on our Fish and Game.
the Park Service, Mining, DEC, USFWS, and more.

Issues regarding Unimak, 40 mile, Yukon River, Bison ESA, Polar Bear ESA, Beluga Whale ESA, Energy & Subsistence rights and Access for all hunters and fisherman.

    Guest speakers are

Congressman DON YOUNG Senator LISA MURKOWSKI Director of wild life management COREY ROSSI, AND i am led to believe Lt, Governor Mead Treadwell may also be on hand.

Also meet Jim Wilde, poster child for the NPS issues in the Yukon Charlie preserve Yukon river Corridor. If you recall, Jim was harassed and arrested by the Yukon Charlie park rangers last fall. There will be a unique Fund raising contest to help Jim with his legal fees. ( First prize is a boat ride with Jim and lunch at Gestapo pt on the Yukon river)

there will be Brat, Dogs, and cold beverages available via the pump house. There is NO charge for admission to the civic center in Pioneer park

Alaska Outdoor Council - AOC ,Along with Sportsman for Fish Wildlife Alaska -SFWA, Alaska Trappers Association, as well the Miners Association will all be on hand to answer questions offer raffles and more.

This would be a very good opportunity, for some of our younger folks to come learn the how and why things are done as they are.

Excellent suggestion. Though some of the parents out there could probably learn a lot and unlearn a lot as well.

Awesome! Rossi, SFW and the Miners Association all in the same place. That's the group that's supposed to fix AK wildlife woes? What does the Miners assoc bring to the game management table? I was under the impression they lobbied for the mining industry, not wildlife, go figure. Sounds like the place to go if you want to know everything that's wrong with the process. I would like to know "how and why things are done as they are" though.

When you guys tell the feds to stuff it, are you going to tell them to take their checkbook with them?

Would that cold beverage be TEA by any chance? Maybe cool-aid, but I'm betting Tea.

I'd be curious to know how SFW stands on the sheep issue being debated on this forum If any forum members attend I hope they ask. I'll bet you don't get a straight answer and their rep starts tap dancing or shaking shiny objects.

I say give the Tea a go for a few years and see. A Test Run...We now have a baseline of Federalism for comparability. Return the checks to sender and stop drinking the Free Bubble Up.

I'm not in any way commenting on the motivations behind the rally because I agree with many of the concerns about fed-state relations. Having said that, I'm willing to bet that there will be people there observing and possibly recording what is going on and who shows up. I think that is pretty much inevitable after the whole Schaeffer Cox situation.

I would argue that SFW, Rossi, etal have meddled in the States affairs and welfare in much the same way as the FEDs. Only difference is they are claiming to be on "our" side....hmmm

Maybe we can film a trophy sheep hunt in the Chugach with Donald Trump along with Seekins and Sarah Palin. Maybe even raffle off the rights to tag along to an average Joe, with an opportunity to get "the Don's" signature and a Palin bobblehead doll...proceeds to benefit the Alaska Moose Federation....then again, AMF is already set to get 1.4 million in state budget funding this year...

I am ashamed to see what is happening to wildlife management in this State...

Well sir, I have been accused of being just about everyone now. This one is by far the most humorous. I haven't seen Ralph in a long time guess i should look him up and share a laugh.

Honestly people should worry less about who i am, and pay some serious attention whats going on in your government.

As to the question posed by the gentleman in the tinfoil hat,

The Mining Association is working hard for many folks. You see there is this issue with the Federal government taking over quite title of RS2477 trails in Alaska. the BLM is blocking many of the historic trails and access, and the miners association is the first in line for taking the hits. Then again See Jim Wilde Case, like many of the same trails the Yukon river is listed as state highway.

You guys crack this old man up

This flier you posted, Squab, it's looking more and more like an SFW event:
                    http://defendersofwildfood.org/

That "unique fundraising event" mentioned in the flier is also a contest on the above link, and that "org" is just an SFW front.

If Rossi is really going to attend an anti-fed rally promoted by SFW as a representative from ADFG, well I have just seen a new low.

That's just ridiculous. The mining assoc work for the mining industry. Their primary goal is to make money for shareholders. It's basic economics. However, the 1872 mining law is inadequate and dated and all of the amendments to it have done nothing to fix the core issue. The royalties from mines on public land is laughable and the requirement to clean up after the mine closes falls to taxpayers.

Ever hear of a superfund site? How about mines like the Anaconda mine, Summitville, Couer d'Alene River Basin?

The idea the mines are for "us" is just ignorant.

When the mining companies, and the politicians agree to hold mines responsible for ALL cleanup associated with the mine in perputuity AND put up the bond for it, I'll start to listen. The well established practice of declaring bankruptcy as soon as the ore is harvested must end too. Corporate welfare is ok by you I guess.

Until then, you can can continue to ignore fact and divert attention but it still comes down to SOCIALISM. Yep, that's right. When you privitize profit and socialize loss it's not free market capitalism.

Sorry Ralph, on this one you have no facts to back you up. Clammoring for more mining while asking taxpayers to fund the mistakes flies in the face of your claims about mines and LIBERTY, FREEDOM, FAIRNESS and CAPITALISM.

RS2477 RIGHTS OF WAY, not trails as you claim. RS2477 was an 1866 law passed by the US CONGRESS to facilitate delelpoment of the West. Your representation of this issue is factually incorrect, deceptive and somewhat incidious. Claiming to protect access and trails? The opposite is the case. it's a renewed effort to allow mining companies to use the RS2477 RIGHT OF WAY to access National parks, refuges, and wilderness areas for road building nad prevent wilderness designation. How do you square that with the rulings that allow them to take PRIVATE land. See: Fischer v. Golden Valley Electric (1983)
(for forum readers not familiar with RS2477 here is wiki summary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revised_statute_2477)

Geez, talk about a wolf in sheeps clothing.

What other factually incorrect, intentially misleading information do you have to back you up?

Does anybody know if Rossi hated the feds when he worked for them? Maybe he changed his mind when the paychecks stopped?

The ticker at the bottom that counts the number of moose and caribou killed by bears and wolves is AWESOME! Talk about some BS pulled straight out of ones backside and passed as fact.

Hey Squab, how did you guys count them all up?

Man, talk about a turd covered in chocolate.....

I would say Mark,Dave and Earl should not go to this event. But to run your mouths about it and in other threads complain about the lack of civility is really rich. if you don't want to go don't go.
