  • Another FERC project proposed - Huge gas pipeline EIS

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission just issued a final Environmental Impact Statement on the Alaska LNG Pipeline.

I haven't read it yet, but it seems quite substantial:

Seems like this proposal has been around for many years. I'm not sure if it's any closer to being economical, given the latest downturn in oil prices.

In "Round" Numbers........roughly 45 years. We were going to build it as soon as the first oil pipeline was completed. The "Everyone knows conversation" was "Men don't leave Alaska when this oil pipeline is complete, we are going to start the Gas pipeline next year. "Maybe late 1978 we will start".

The check is in the mail.

And we are going to move the Alaska Capital to Willow, AK.

We are going to build a bridge across Knik Arm to the new "Dome City".

We are going to build the Susitna Hydro Dam

FERC issued their final cert for this project.

So they have all the Federal approval they need to proceed. Not sure what the future is for this project, but it has cleared a big hurdle.
