  • Lynx closed on the Kenai until 2020

My initial reaction was that if the numbers are down, not many will be taken so it wouldn't matter. The real trigger on lynx population swings is the hare population. Seems to be a natural swing. But even if they feel the need to protect lynx this year, why a six year wait, when the next time the hare population starts running up, the lynx should also?

I agree... it is weird... I almost wonder if the reporter got some information mixed up...From a management perspective it certainly doesn't seem to make much sense...

If they are that concerned, they should limit or close rabbit hunting.

The EO doesn't say anything about 2020. It says "likely not reopen until we see a cyclic upturn."
