  • Electric Reverse

How does this work, compared to mechanical reverse?
"When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it."
    Henry Ford

The engine revs are slowed and the timing changed, causing the engine to literally run backwards. To do so requires a different clutch, but eliminates the addition of a reverse gear in the chaincase and the necessary linkage to engage the gear.

New style-drive clutch must engage in forward and reverse rotation.

Old style- drive clutch always rotates the same way, gearing between the driven clutch and drive shaft does the reverse chores.
