    Weather History

Snow Depth At Landing Parking Lot:

There was about 5 inches of new snow on the Thursday before the Iditarod, and there has been less than an inch that fell on Tuesday night.

    Trail Conditions:

3/12 Trail conditions have started to deteriorate over the past 3 days due to the warm temps. The trails have not been groomed due to unfit conditions. Trails are very bumpy. Do not go off trail due to the heavy wet snow conditions. If you stop or slow down off trail you will be stuck. Temperatures look to be falling over the next few days, so that may give the trail guys a chance to improve things out there. Some overflow beginning along the sides of the rivers.

    Lodge Reports:

    Alaska Backcountry Tours-

    McDougall Lodge-

Talvista Lodge- 2/19 Tal River Loop From Luce's to TalVista- Still closed due to trail being blown out.
18 inches of new snow in the last week at the lodge.

1/26 The Tal River Loop has been put in. Take a left 1 1/2 miles up river from Luces. This is an overland trail to the TalVista Lodge via Alexander Lake. The trail is 35 miles from start to the TalVista. It is 4' packed snow and beautiful. Most of the trail is marked, stay in main trail and you won't veer off in the wrong direction. If you come across the landing strip, Kenny Hughes place, stay off strip and respect his trails. This is the halfway point.

The TalVista Lodge has food, fuel and lodging available. Please call Chris or Sarah @ the lodge for reservations 733-3066

Have you used this gate machine from Dec. 23 to Present?
There has been an ongoing batch problem with all transactions during this time period. We believed we would have this fixed by February 20th, but another technical issue has now shown up. Our new goal is the first week of March to have the batches sent to the bank.
This means you will see charges appear on your credit card from previous visits to Deshka Landing. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we have been working on getting several issues resolved since this was identified at the end of January.
