Sunday-Tuesday Highs were in the low 30's. Lows were in the high teens.
    Weather History

Snow Depth At Landing Parking Lot:

Light dusting on Sunday night. Lot is plowed. We have laid out the left side of the lot in 8 rows. Try to park accordingly to the rows.

    Trail Conditions:

2/17 Trails continue to be bumpy in areas, then nice and smooth in other areas. Be aware of bumps coming out of nowhere. There has been a lot of freighting taking place over the past week, so the trail have been packed. Overflow is beginning to show in places due to the warm weather. Hopefully we will get more specifics by the weekend.

Trail has been well used and is somewhat washboard in places. With the fresh snow contrast can be a problem but overall the trails are very nice. Be careful on the Deshka X-over trail as there have been several moose getting out of the deeper snow and onto the trail. Some thin ice at grass island (mile 10 Deshka River).

    Lodge Reports:

    Alaska Backcountry Tours-

    McDougall Lodge-

Talvista Lodge- 2/10 Alexander Trail- From Luce's to TalVista- Was blown out in several places as of Sunday.

Skwentna Roadhouse to TalVista- No overflow, groomed and marked. 3' packed snow

1/26 The Tal River Loop has been put in. Take a left 1 1/2 miles up river from Luces. This is an overland trail to the TalVista Lodge via Alexander Lake. The trail is 35 miles from start to the TalVista. It is 4' packed snow and beautiful. Most of the trail is marked, stay in main trail and you won't veer off in the wrong direction. If you come across the landing strip, Kenny Hughes place, stay off strip and respect his trails. This is the halfway point.
Swamp -overland from Skwentna to TalVista is beautiful
River- 2" fresh snow over glare ice

The TalVista Lodge has food, fuel and lodging available. Please call Chris or Sarah @ the lodge for reservations 733-3066
