  • Mt Bike hunting into GMU 15?

    The ADF&G supplement reads:

"It is recommended to use horses to access this area. This area is closed to off-road vehicles and aircraft access is extremely limited."

Has anyone tried to mountain bike into the backcountry between Skilak and Tustumena Lakes via the trails that the horsemen use?

    Thanx, Dave.

Considered it at first a few years ago, but found out that it is illegal. No wheeled things are allowed, including carts. This is a park regulation directed to reduce sources of erosion. The thinking is that a longitudinal rut down a trail will channel runoff and lead to increased erosion.
