http://www.k300.org/core/ They say the trail is good, but lots of moose. It seems pretty warm though.
If you board the wrong train, it is no use running along the corridor in the other direction.

Oh my gosh, this warm up here in Fairbanks is soooooo nice. I imagine it'll play heck on the trails though.

          From the website:

BREAKING NEWS: The K300 and Bogus Creek 150 races will NOT start on Friday night. At the mandatory musher’s meeting at 8 am on Friday morning, mushers and race officials will talk about start options, and a decision will be made about when to start. Look for an update in the morning about the rescheduled race starts.

From The Daily Bark the trail is "slow and wet and slushy but doable. Check the home page for K300 trail updates later tonight."

Yep sounds messy. I hate overflow.

We have +41 here up north, any trails are just punchy, crusty, overall a real mess out there. Had the dogs loose yesterday and they overheated bigtime just running around a bit.

Hope it works out so the race can happen...this is just freaky weather for this time of year. In all my years here I have never seen it get above freezing for this long, and the only other times it did it was maybe a day or two of mid 30s or so.

If I were racing I'd be real concerned about my dogs overheating. I guess if there were good patches of water it would help to cool them off, but going from the -20s to -50s and into the +40s is hard on dogs. And when it freezes again it is gonna be real hard on booties/feet.

I spoke with Jeff King on Wednesday as he was flying out to Bethel and he said 3-4 weeks of 30 below at the warmest for them up there, so this is going to be a big shock for the dogs, I would think....

                      Race postponed again...

Is there any concern about the river ice breaking up?

Yes there is. Last year is know as the KuskoSwim. Several snowmachines went through to the water. A couple of teams were stranded 50 miles from the finish line.

hey 1stimestar, sebastian went down to anchorage to get a flight but they werent flying there, he is already back here in paxson. whenever I go out calling for predators (usually over 2 miles away) I can still hear his dogs howling in response. I feel bad for waking him up by making his dogs go nuts...

Haha what is he doing back there, just hanging out? I knew he withdrew, figured he needed to get back home and didn't have time to wait out the delay.
