Looking for external camera mount pics.

I am looking for a few external camera mount pics for an article. No N numbers or company names in photos.

Both are RAM 1" ball mounts. The strut view misses most of the prop. Even with an ND filter you still see some prop distortion. The under tail is my favorite. Point it forward to see your gear on takeoff and landing. Get a filter to take the rock hits, though.

BTW for folks who have not read it here is the last FAA memo that I know of on the external mounting of cameras subject...

A couple of wraps of vinyl electrical tape to protect the paint and install the mount using a worm clamp. I wrapped tape over the clamp, too. That's what you're seeing in the pic. That mount's been on for two or three years and hasn't moved. The same mount works on Cub struts and gear. Teardrop or round tubes.

Here's the promo video that led me to try the RAM mount. The is several years old now but the parts are still current. For GoPro and Garmin Virb cameras you'll need a RAM ball adapter that's specific for either camera since those camera bodies don't use a tripod mount. Northern Lights Avionics stocks lots of RAM components and Best Buy stocks the GoPro adapter but my favorite RAM parts source is GPS City on the web. By the way, the RAM rail mount comes with a worm clamp that's too small for Cessna or Cub struts. I pick up bigger clamps at NAPA. Nothing special about those.

So from that PDF document from the FAA themselves reading between the lines the FAA is telling the person asking the question to take the stick out of their butt. I have never disagreed with a formal writen FAA document. Alot of the problems come from overly paranoid pilots and mechanics. I believe this paranoia comes from the fact that everyone in this small community knows a guy who knows a guy that got their hand slapped. But in those cases I have found when I dug deeper it was due to gross incompetence and pencil whipping, not mounting a go pro to your strut.

If you just make sure work on your plane is done properly and dont go running to the FAA every time you want to put a sticker on your instrument panel then no one is going to bother you and no one is going to care. I have been flying for 10 years now off and on and have NEVER had a run in with FAA. I have heard of the horror stories of the FAA telling people to take off unapproved bush wheels and such and then they leave never to return. I am sure there are some incompetent over zealous FAA agents but from what I have heard from other people is they swoop in with their ***** hattery and once they are bored they leave and never return becuase these sorts of agents are more concerned with their power trip than with actual safety. I would have to wager these agents are in the minority though.

Where the real problems come is if you wreck and have unapproved stuff AND you get a passenger hurt.

BTW my go pro is mounted on my aerobatic sight (another unapproved properly built attachment that im not gonig to write congress about) with a U bolt but I have issues with reaching around the strut so a ball on the leading edge of the strut would be ideal but im not going to attach it with tape.

The tape was to protect the paint, therfore, as mentioned, there is a clamp that hold it on

Did you buy it locally or did you order it? I will have to do some google searches because I would love a more stable mount like that.
