  • Palmer Aeronca down

Not a lot of info, but the two onboard survived, which is good.

I am acquainted with Russ and his family. He lives at Sky Ranch and is a commercial airline pilot and flew with Iditarod Air Force. Nice fellow.

He owns or owned a 185 the last time I talked to him a few years ago.

I was unsure I should even post the make of aircraft since the model was obviously wrong. Still haven't seen any followup, but the initial reports have it as an Aeronca so I gambled and won on that one.

The info was good enough to figure out it was a Champ.

"troopers were informed of the Aeronca C-85ís crash, in the vicinity of Skyranch Loop,"
According to the reporter, only the engine crashed..... :nyanya:

I was sitting at work in Fairbanks, and I get a call on my cell phone. Hi this is such and such with the FAA Anchorage FISDO, how are you today. Talk about getting your blood pressure up. He said he heard I was a witness to this accident...lol, said I'm up in Fairbanks. Apparently there's another Jason Brooks in the Valley.

              Weird.
