I was just chatting with one the other day... Chopper Mechanic! I gotta say though many of them spend 99.9% of their day chauffeuring tools like me around from one base to another, holding up whiteboards with things like "Ramadi", "Fallujah", "Warhorse", etc on them so the num-nutz gets off at the right spot! Oh and loading bags while repeatedly instructing noobs on how the dang seat belt works.

No apology for the hijack since the OP already solved the problem!

Must be a Crew Cheif............ Just call a specialist to fix it correctly

I will say that after a Chinook ride between COB Adder and AL Kut I decided I want to be a door gunner in my next life!! (Actually the tail gunner had the 50 which would rock but really who can say they want to be a tail gunner with a straight face)

    Like this???

    Sorry for the high jack.

If this is a WARN winch for a truck? yes i have pulled them apart they are pretty easy to do so. It is probably something simple that has it locked up in the switch. You should have problem breaking it apart to repair good luck

    started a topic winch issues

    winch issues

So, had to use my winch the first time this spring. I went to free spool the cable out and it would not stay disengaged. It is a 2500 lbs Warn. I was able to get the line out by holding the knob half way between free and engaged. It did pull good, or good enough to get me off the snow pile I had no good reason to get over. I guess my question is has anyone had this issue before? It worked awesome all last year with some major use. Never torn one apart and don't know what I would be getting into. Any info would be appreciated.

    Mike
