  • Sweeping Pavilion 5-9-09

We will be sweeping the Pavilion parking lot (Jim Creek)for nails on May 9th. If you are going to go out riding please follow the guides as to where to park. This area gets full of sharp little metal things that can (and will) give you a flat tire on your wheeler or your truck. We will be going over the parking lot with a big magnet to try to pull the stuff up but need to be able to direct traffic so we get the largest area we can.
If you want to help out, we will be starting at 7AM!
There is a faster way off the mountain, might hurt a little though.

    Sweeping the trailhead

Just a reminder, we will be sweeping the lot with a magnet starting at 7am this Saturday. We will direct everybody to the swept areas, hopefully we will get most of the nails up. Two years ago we got one and a half garbage cans of nails up. The backhoe operater needs your consideration while this is going on as he is watching the magnet, so please pay attention to the people directing traffic.

      Quite a few nails

I did not dump the garbage can so I do not know how many pounds of nails we got, but it was alot. (It took two guys to haul it and dump it off at the transfer station). This is an ongoing effort, eventually the pallet fires will go away with DNR supervision of the area and we will not need to sweep the lots anymore. Thanks to everyone for putting up with us during your day of riding.

Thank you to you and everyone who helped on the sweeping job.
