I walked up to Near Point for breakfast this morning. Near Point is accessed from Prospect Heights trailhead, and is an alternative to walking all the way up to Wolverine Peak. The trail was good, and dry most of the way. Mosquitos were few. I did not need the bug dope I brought along.



There are two trails to the summit. The western-most trail is steeper and was drier as I came down. It takes off from the main trail about 200-300 yards above the plank steps over a wet area.



I saw one bear track up in the high country, and quite a few recent moose tracks, but I saw neither, even `tho I was there pretty early in the morning. There's quite a view from there, as is the case with all these peaks along the western edge of the park.
