  • Wanted: Colt SAA Revolver

    Hello all,
I am checking if anyone has a Colt Single action revolver they are willing to part with. Im not sure the big difference between 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation, but would consider any. I mostly just want a cowboy colt peacemaker. Thanks!

Shooter or collector? Does it have to be a real COLT ? Or will a clone do ??

Thanks for the replies. Looking for Colt only. Is there much difference from 1st , 2nd or 3rd, besides the price?

The age. 3rd Gen guns came about in the 70's. 2nd Gen from around 1920 until then. The first generation guns are considered the last of the cowboy guns.

Sorry, but incorrect. Gen 1 up to WWII when they ceased production. Many different variants, both black powder and smokeless. Gen 2 started 1956 due to demand. Gen 3 last of the bunch, still available if you have the money and time to wait. Gen 1 much more collectible, but lots of Frankenstein guns with mixed part running around.

I stand corrected. I was thinking of how they consider the guns before 1920, 'cowboy guns.' BTW, I have a Cavalry gun, stamped US, DFC, and with the mismatched numbers. Sadly it has had a caliber change. Cylinder and barrel. Might have been changed by Colt, but I haven't paid the money to find out.

You are probably better off with a clone but as an example of a neat old one that has reduced collectors value look at this: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/836906581
