fence in the garden and add a second fence 3-4 foot farther out and let the chicken loose in the two fences the slugs will not make it in the garden, keep hopper out too then you have the eggs and meat to eat.

Don't know about prevention, but... little saucers containing beer work very well if they strike again.

Beer in a plastic can lid will get them after the hatch.

I don't know about preventing them, but sprinkling wood ash around the plants they attack will keep them away.

Since we had such a wet summer last year, what is the recommened method to get rid of any unhatched eggs? I would like to do something about them before getting the garden ready this spring.
