  • what's the secret

My wife just loves brussel sprouts(although I spend my time thinking of other uses for them). She has tried 3 years now to grow them and the best crop she got was 2 sprouts that were not fully developed. She has tried planting seeds in the garden(which gave the bumper crop), to starting plants in the house as early as Feburary. Anyone have any tried and true suggestions for a more plentifull crop? We live in the Anchorage area, and have spots in the yard varying from no sun to full sun. Thanks in advance.

Full sun, and put some hay over the seedlings. Don't ask why, just do it. You will have some more mid to late summer.

No amount of education can help those who want to remain permanently ignorant of facts, which includes those whom have been educated.

I would ether start them in the house soon or pick up plants from a green house. Plant them in the sun preferably in a raised bed. My plants usually don't start producing till late summer right before it starts to freeze. How is your soil? From my experience the soil in most areas around here is not very good. You might want to mix in some compost or manuer.
