  • How many #s can a lab pack

    Does any one know how much weight a 1 year old 50 to 60 lab can carry for a week without getting any worries of being to loaded down. For example its own food.

    I think I remember reading that 25% to 30% of their body weight is the max load. I never went that high though.
    As the week goes on and he eats, the load will of course get lighter.
    It was quite a few years ago, so I might be incorrect.

      I've heard that labs are prone to hip problems, so I've stayed away from putting too much weight on them. Although, a few days of dog food doesn't weigh too much so I'm sure that wouldn't hurt.
