  • Quail Permits

Are there any permits needed to keep quail, release quail, work dog on quail or shoot quail? I am looking to get a recall cage up and going for my young setter and I want to be sure I am following the law.

I don't think so. You can buy quail, chukar, and pheasant from local feed stores. I think generally animals that can survive, and multiply are the ones you have to have permits for.....an example.....If you want to buy a lynx or bobcat as a pet (and you actually can); in Alaska you must have a permit for it. Quail, Pheasants and such couldn't survive and breed enough to start a true wild population here. Call F&G to get an "official" answer.
