  • Maud Rd lakes

I am wanting to try duck hunting out on some of the lakes on Maud Rd but the only thing I have is a kayak. Would using a kayak out there be feasible to get to some areas or would it be a waste of time?

put some camo on it and figure out a away to carry some deks or drag them on another float/boat behind you, and go get them. i'd stick to mud and the adjoining lake, and not try to paddle up/down jim creek to the other lakes, hunt can be just as good right there. Bud

No I think it would work great any one of the three lakes that you can get to by the road

I have hunted those lakes with my canoe in previous yearsand last year I seen two guys in a canoe who were able to score a few birds. You can get birds within 500 yards ofthe boat ramp if they are getting pushed around. I packed two dozen decoys withme and it seemed to work, if you have a Mojo and a jerk line you may be able tocut that in half? Cant shoot birds if your not out there, have a great season.

Oh a with a small troller and a homemade motor mount I was able to increase my distance by alot

I think I am going to have to try it this year. I also have a small 9 foot flat bottom boat with a trolling motor that I guess I could use as well.

I've got a 12 foot jon project that I've painted that I've been itchin to get out. I'm gonna try out near portage areas. But the maud road lakes would be great to set up shop I might try it later this season once that area mellows out a bit

My 14' with an 18HP surface drive is the perfect boat for that area if you ask me. ran it there some, and will this year.

Fastest I've clocked with GPS is 25 mph. Loaded with partner, dog, and hunting gear I go 16ish
