  • Thank You, Alaska Trappers Association!

I wanted to take an opportunity to thank the Alaska Trappers Association http://www.alaskatrappers.org/ for awarding me to be their scholarship recipient to the Becoming an Outdoors Women summer event. http://www.sf.adfg.state.ak.us/regio.../FA/about.home
It will be a profound privilege to be representing the ATA while attending this program.

I believe that the event is supposed to be the last weekend in June and it will be located somewhere between Fairbanks and Delta Junction. The BOW website does not currently have it as a 'scheduled' event, but it is an annual event and fills pretty quickly.

I'll be taking pictures of the event and I will have the opportunity to thank the ATA at the October ATA meeting in the Interior.

Thanks again, Alaska Trappers Association, for your support of women in the Alaskan outdoors community!

    Sincerely,
    COtoAK

Send her with me. We can room together, but she has to understand that I am a night owl and I work on overtime in the summertime. Mountain Dew is a 2nd addiction to me and that next weekend after this BOW event, I'll hopefully be running Mt. Marathon... so if she is good for jogging with me.. I'd absolutely welcome that!

You can go to the above mentioned website for BOW and there is a schedule and list of events that are mentioned that women can register for. It goes until the end of the 2009 year.

Oh... and you didn't know that I enjoyed trapping? We don't get out as often as we should. :\

Good job, COtoAK. However, I'm betting that neither you nor your husband feel "trapped" in your marriage .

But now you will learn how to trap in your marriage, so to speak.

I wish I could get my wife a little more energy to go on the 'line with me.

She went once this year, we took both kids (5 and 3) on my short line.

Anyway, awaiting your stories and experiences.

                  HH,
                  Thanks for responding!
Anything that my husband and I do together outdoors wise solidifies our marriage. We did our first dual sheep hunt last year and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences and memories that I have with him.

Encourage your wife to continue going to the 'line with you. Consider setting up a sitter on your own and make that time one on one with her. Your kidlets have tons of time to learn trapping, but you have this moment to introduce, support, and encourage your wife to learn the line now. There is no better time than the current time to allow her to experience the line with you.

I'll be excited to post pictures and report on my experience.
Honestly... it's just an honor to be going, especially on a scholarship offered by the ATA!
