  • Good day for bunnies...

we did pretty well on Sat..First day out with my buddy's new .204...it did very well from many distances but head shots are a must...

here is a short vid of the only shot that missed it's mark, I think his round was deflected by a twig...and yes, the meat was still salvageable..don't watch if you don't want to see a messy rabbit...

a little warning...the vid is not for the kiddos to watch, I drop the "S" word at the beginning...

it does...unfortunately the brush can turn a good head shot into a mess...it wasn't as bad as it looks...here's the full vid of the day...

tjm- Looks like y'all had a good day, a few of those head shots came out real clean for using the .204.

I like how y'all are checkin' for traction control there at the end

I have a .222 rem that will do the same thing.

The equipment looks like a blast on frozen ground / ice where it won't leave a rut. The first vid looks a bit much to me though... the second one was a bit better, but I don't like to see video of struggling animals. I mean, I know what we have to do to kill for food and all, I just don't want to watch it for entertainment. I got into a "discussion" with a professional videographer last year about this; his claim was that all hunters wanted to see was kill shots. He has produced several well-known vids for that market, you know the ones that say "150 kills" and such... I disagree; I think more of us want to see the whole hunt, and regard the kill as a necessary part of it. My personal preference anyway.

              No slam intended.

no slam taken.......i don't think any of the bunnies struggled...perhaps I need to to re-watch my own vid......i put the disclaimer there for just the reason you outlined...some like it, some don't....If you don't want this stuff posted here just say the word....I'm not here to upset anyone...

notice there were only a handfull of the 14 kill shots in the vid...most of it was all about the day or as you put it the "whole hunt"...so the vid should be right up your alley...

I think the one shot that the bunny left the camera is like what the anti's are looking for.

It looks like you have a good batch of rabbits for some stew. I thought the video was good. I bought a cz 204 last winter I will have to take it out and try for some bunnies. I thought that it would not leave anything to eat. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for posting the video. I'm glad you could salvage that one bunny.
