One would have to assume that they were released or escaped. I just thought it was something unusual for AK so I took a picture. At that time I didn't think about harvesting them (had to use "that" word). After shooting the pic I got on here and looked around and found some discussion about others having seen turkeys as well. Posted the pic as proof of the sightings

Down by the ruusian river. There was a guy who use to raise turkies. I gusses he got tired of them and released them several years ago. They have done pretty will so far. I have seen them on the russian. Also just like pheasents in Wassilla. They have escaped from peoples copes.Living the Alaskan Dream

Cooper Landing Turkeys :-)
Hey!
I saw these guys several years ago and thought I was having flash backs from my youths errors :-)
I found out later that a guy in Cooper Landing was attempting to introduce them into the area. Although I am not sure that he was doing it leaglly or not? But! I was glad that I did not shoot them, I know a few years of leaving the ruffs alone resulted in a Big Benifit to all of us! It would be great to have a huntable population of turkey here in Alaska.
