  • The blues for the blues

I knew this last winter was going to be a hard one on the deer, but was seriously expecting grouse to be everywhere this fall as they were so hard to reach during the spring season through the snow.

    I've seen one.

Maybe they got flooded out? Anyone seeing many down here in southeast?

          I'm seeing some decent numbers

I hate to say it, but I've seen decent numbers of grouse this fall. Saw 4 one day while deer hunting Douglas, and another 2 on Admiralty. I was looking for deer, but they have a knack for scaring the Heck out of you when they explode underfoot. Can't really comment on the overall population though-

Job, you probably have more time afield than I do this fall by far.

I heard a load of them this spring, but getting into them was tougher than bushrat's beard because of that deep snow. So, I assumed they'd be out in mass this fall having escaped the hunt as they did.

But, with your report, I might keep packing my grouse gear.
