Unit 22 Grizzly

Try to help the struggling moose herd in Unit 22B was the objective. Certainly no shortage of bears. Had to travel 32 miles northeast to get to the boundary and once there we didn't wander much and located 12 bears. I'd suggest anyone looking to do the moose and musk ox a favor get getting. For those of you outside the unit there is still plenty of good snow left to travel on. The upcoming week is considered prime time to locate a fine bear. This one was just a little girl but even the little girls like to eat moose so I did my part.

Great bear, Grizzlykiller and super pictures. That hide looks primo! Quite the den also. Do the bears reuse a den or dig a new one every year? It is amazing how they can did as I saw evidence when a griz buried my moose carcass up there one year. Thanks for the story and for the moose you saved also..

Not sure if any particular den is re-used on a year by year basis. I've seen dens in the same draws and chutes and slopes but not sure if they are in the same exact hole. Wouldn't be surprised to hear if one was a favorite of a particular bear.
Rifle? Only one I own. The left handed .300 Weatherby Mark V my dad bought me when I was 16 in 1978. Leupold Vari-X II 2-7 thats been on the rifle since day one. McMillan stock. Bullet was 200 grain Nosler my brother put together. It's a genuine death ray in my opinion.
