  • Cheap camo, what have you used?

I'd just spent a few hundred bucks buying good fall camo hunting gear so I didnt want to shell out any more money than I had to for winter gear. This is a Tyvek suit that I purchased for 7 dollars at a local industrial supply store (Airgas) and painted with a black magic marker. They are available in sizes from super small to extremely HUGE. IIRC this is a 2x and fits over all my very bulky winter gear with room to move. (Im 6'4 ~260) I believe they have them up to 5 or 6XL.

This stuff is pretty much waterproof, windproof, and very light weight. A great addition to any day pack, summer or winter. (nothings more eye catching in a summer survival situation than pure white, IMHO)

Post up what you have done for cheap camo.

          Thank you.

I figure it doesnt really matter since its mostly for "stand" use, but its not any more loud than goretex.

                Burlap

I've used strips of burlap sewn onto an old pair of BDUs. It is cheap and effective, so long as it dosen't rain.

                  a tip

                  just a tip ...

tyvek gets quieter after it is washed and dried several times ... particularly the in the dryer part ... put a shoe or slipper or something heavy (no sharp soles, just need the weight) in with them and it will beat the daylights out of the tyvek ... mine didn't tear and still remain mainly waterproof and a whole lot quieter ... you can seal the seams if you are really looking to it as your main source of rain protection ...
